Here’s the step-by-step process.

Step 1: Access HDB InfoWEB

Go to: www.hdb.gov.sg

Log in with your Singpass (both applicants need Singpass to complete the application).

Navigate to: My HDBPage → Buying a New Flat (or EC) → Apply for EC

The EC application section typically opens 2–3 weeks before the launch date. For April 11 launch, expect the application portal to open around late March 2026.

Step 2: Confirm Eligibility Before Applying

Before filling in the form, confirm:
– Citizenship status of all applicants
– Combined monthly income ≤ $16,000
– No private property ownership (you or spouse) in last 30 months
– If second-timer: resale levy status acknowledged

HDB does a hard eligibility check when you submit. Failed applications are rejected and you may not be able to reapply in time for the launch.

Step 3: Complete the Application Form

Key sections:

Personal information:
– Full name (as per NRIC)
– NRIC number

– Marital status

Co-applicant information:

Income declaration:
– Submit income documents (upload, not post)
– Salaried: 3 months payslips (most recent)

Common Application Errors to Avoid

1. Wrong income calculation: Don’t include bonuses in monthly income. Calculate as: annual salary (excluding bonuses) ÷ 12.

2. Incomplete income documents: Self-employed buyers often forget to upload all required NOA pages. Upload the complete document.

3. Outdated address: Ensure your Singpass address is current. HDB uses registered addresses for eligibility checks.

4. Co-applicant hasn’t completed their section: Both applicants must sign in and complete their respective portions. One person cannot complete it for both.

5. Previous private property not properly declared: If you owned private property that you sold, even years ago, declare it. The 30-month restriction is strict.

Step 4: After Submission — What Happens

HDB processes applications in 3–5 working days. You’ll receive:
– Email confirmation of submission
– HDB eligibility letter with your e-application number (within 1 week)
– The e-application number is what you bring on April 11

If your application is rejected, you’ll receive a rejection letter with the reason. Common rejection reasons:
– Income over $16,000
– Private property ownership detected
– Incomplete income documentation

You can appeal or correct and resubmit. But this takes time — apply early.
